HOLY SHIT!! Dodge WAS paying attention!

SO.......The more I read about the volt the more its growing on me. Im  still and not a fan of its styling closeness to the car that shall no longer be named but the technology is awesome and the interior looks very interesting. Then dodge busts out with 3 different versions of the electric two like the volt ie ev primary drive small gas or diesel only for back up charging of the batteries no direct responsibilities for driving the wheels.  And I never thought i would say this but, a minivan totally makes sense. And a jeep? I am not really sure how that one is a good idea other than for research. I mean Give an electric or hybrid to a trail rider and they will break it every way to sunday so good for testing purposes but the extra weight and electronics is a bad idea for off road. And lastly a tesla! I say a tesla because thats what the sports car is a lotus elise modified into a electric car! So I am calling shenanigans on that one.

Been done Dodge put down the hateraid and stop acting like you came up with something new. I am a little surprised no one else has said as much yet.  However I am really happy for chrysler and am looking forward to a real functional and original ev design if anyone can make one look cool its chrysler as long as they realize it has to be its own thing completely and its ok to make this cars styling different from everything in their line. If they can do that and make it with descent range and keep it 300 comfy they will be well on their way back. Ok so to the people that know me. What the hell is with the EV shit!?!? How did this happen and why is no one setting up an intervention!?

Volt

So after I wrote the last blog chevy introduced the final on the Volt and hey it looks like a prius! I thought man I have toyotas little ride on the brain so I called some different people over to my desk everyone of em said "Hey is that the new Prius?" Others seem to think so to CNN article listed below talks about how poorly and obvious this has become to GM current fearless leader Bob Lutz and it seems everyone thinks Chevy pussed out and made a copy instead of innovated and stuck with a design closer to the concept. I wish chevy luck with the Volt and will for sure take a look when they come out but i really think chevy has dropped the ball here trying to play it safe. I understand Aero dynamics could some day dictate styling to the degree that all cars look the same as they began to in the late 80s and early 90s but theres gotta be room guys.  We want an American car thats better. Chevy is locked in on the Volt if they are showing this as the final its to late to change the style. I guess all we can do is tray and be open minded till seen in person and hope Ford and Dodge are paying attention.

Prius The full on plug in.

So Toyota is experimenting with a full plug in electric Prius. Now dont you newbies start acting like this is the latest greatest and no the japanese arent pioneers here Electric cars were once seriouse competitor for fossil fuel powered vehicles. All  conceived  designed and manufactured right here in the U.S of smokemifyougottem A. In fact everyones pall Jay Leno has a fleet of em. check out www.jaylenosgarage.com. That being said the holy grail of duchebaggery Prius is boldly going were US automakers have gone and refuse to go again. And in doing so acting like they are the first and only ones. Never Mind firms like tesla offering lotus elise based full electric sports cars for midgets (because you have to be a midget to fit in one) and their buyers are taking delivery now. There is also Zap a company  inline with Teslas in reguards to size of customer but polar opposite performance wise. And there are a few others. Though none with the backing toyota has. And honestly it will probly take a full electric Prius to make our staggering 3 realise what an opportunity has been missed.

I cant understand why ford or especially chevy cant knock out a greeny full electric 300 mile range plug in under 30 gs . With up dated battery technology General motors ev1 has been hypothesized an easy 250 - 300 mpc (miles per charge baby made that one up). But american companies wont commit to a full on electric because they state there is a limited market. Never mind the people standing in line for the Prius already so much so some people are paying the 30 plus mark up and then dropin another 10 -12 Somalians to convert to full electric voiding all toyota warranties. And with gas headin for 4 bones a gallon again Toyota cant keep the prius on the show room floor. The limited market thing is a bullshit argument any way all 3 have built limited run cars and subsidized them as brand builders which this would also be. Think fords Gt 40 and dodges prowler and Viper, and general motors is now doing a hand built corvette without a doubt the best one ever and we all know about the ev1 wich they killed despite people literally stalking them after confiscation! If any company has proven the fast concept to reality ability its chrysler so why not an ev guys?

I might not be the best  example here but I got a few rides and would jump at the chance to not have to put gas in my dayly. All I am sayin is Ford/chevy/dodge think model T with an option list like a 60s mustang. And you know what make people wait for it have a few at the dealer ship as loaners while the car they order is built for them. Make it all star bucks and boutique get the chi chi clothiers in on it like gucci and luis vutton for interior and special editions and Prius will become toyotas pinto. Its so damned apparent to me. But what do I know. I am holdin out hope for the Volt but now its a hybrid and rumors that it may be sold as a cadillac to cover the upscale price abound I am sure it wont be affordable for the average joe. How about restarting the ev1 line and call it a throw back ride!? I guess I am really spit ballin here because I dont really know why the big three wont do it but I sure wish they would Hate seeing  the home team down.

My triumphant return

SO.... I am back from Mexico, well we spent mere hours in mexico so to be more accurate I am back from my First Cruise from mexico. And Yes friends there are stories. I am now the proud owner of a an official Luchadore mask, my life is now complete! Cruising is interesting its kind of like walking into a vegas motel and being locked in for a few days and when they let you out you are magically in a foreign country, then they lock you back in for a few days and your back in the states.  Mexico was dirty and weird and every one asked me if I wanted weed and cocaine so on the surface I have to say great service. But on further reflection I dont partake of either and I am pretty sure the last two guys that asked me were federales lookin to give away a free night in the hoosegow so lets just call that a wash. Over all me and my girl had a great time. But most importantly we are back in the states and back to work!
